FOODIE FRIDAY! My Experience at San Angel Inn Restaurante

Friday, March 4, 2021, was my day at Epcot.  I have already covered the items I tried and reviewed from the Flower & Garden Festival booths, but I did not get to my dinner that evening.
I had dinner with a friend at San Angel Inn for the very first time.
I had heard mixed reviews on it, but I was very happy I went and was very pleased with the food.

We did not get seated right at the water, but we were pretty close.  Honestly, there is not really a bad seat in the place, unless you are put in the over-flow area by the bathrooms.  I don't think they use those all the time.

I started out with a cocktail!   This was the
Black Magic - Created by Neil Patrick Harris. It contains Montelobos Mezcal, Blackberry Puree, Black Currant Liqueur, Lime, and Mint; Served Frozen.
At the time of writing, this drink is no longer on the menu at the restaurant.

My entree was the Tacos de Ribeye.  This was not what I expected, but it was still very good.  I guess I was expecting thin slices of Ribeye since that is what the menu says.  It was more of a chopped consistency.  Still tasty, just different.

Please join me again next week as we talk about my meal at Tiffins in Animal Kingdom!  You know it's one of my favorites!

THROWBACK THURSDAY! Another Look at August of 2015

It's hard to believe this was almost six years ago already.
This is the day that my face melted off at least 3 times, and I almost passed out.  To me, Animal Kingdom is the HOTTEST park of them all, especially in summer!!
I literally was on the verge of going down for the count when I was able to get some ice water from a Quick Service location.

FOODIE FRIDAY!! My Actual Birthday!

This week on FOODIE FRIDAY we are talking about the actual day of my birthday (3/3), my day at Hollywood Studios, and my dinner at Disney Springs.

My day started out early as I had to get up and attempt at getting a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance!  Since I had two failed attempts on my trip in December, I was hoping the birthday fairy was going to give me some Disney Magic this time and give me some assistance in getting a group!

Well, yes indeed she was very kind, and I got boarding group 29 that day!  Yeah me!

I met up with my friend Holly and her family and we had a great time together.

Holly and I had a birthday cocktail reservation at Oga's Cantina, and we had a great table right near DJ Rex!
We had another friend come and meet up with us, and it was Scott's birthday as well!

I had a non-menu item that the server told me about, and hey, since it was still in the AM, I thought this was a great idea.  It is Batuu's version of a Bloody Mary.  The Bloody Rancor!  They put a little extra Worcestershire Sauce in it to make it more of a brown color.

That was only 11:30am so we had one cocktail, and then it was time for something for lunch.  Holly and her family had a reservation a little later at Sci-Di, and I really wanted to do a mobile order at Woody's Lunchbox in Toy Story Land, but there was nothing available so I had to go with option 2.  I got a mobile order placed for ABC Commissary, and it was actually really good.
I had the grilled chicken sandwich and a bottle of water.  The nice lady behind the counter who gave me my food even gave me a birthday cupcake!

After my lunch, I met back up with my friend Holly and her family and we hung out until it was time for their lunch, and then we met back up a bit later.  We headed to see Muppet Vision 3D and then went to Tower of Terror.  We then said our goodbyes as I was heading back to my resort to change for dinner.

I had a reservation at The Boathouse for my birthday dinner.
I really love this place, and my food was great, as usual.  This was my third time dining here.
I had a glass of Rose'

I picked five different oysters on the half shell to try, and they were all delicious!!

I had clam strips as my main entree

And, of course, they brought me a birthday cupcake.  I was so full I took a bite or two just to taste it.

After dinner I was so tired I headed back to my resort and wanted to get a decent night's sleep as I would have a full day at EPCOT in the morning.

Well, that's it for my birthday!  Thanks for joining me once again.
Next week we will talk about my dinner at San Angel Inn!
See ya real soon!

THROWBACK THURSDAY! EPCOT FLOWER & GARDEN FESTIVAL 2013

Here are some photos of the fairy characters in the Butterfly Garden from 2013.
Topiaries have come such a long way.  These were basically faceless back then.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

FOODIE FRIDAY! Another Wonderful Experience at Skipper Canteen!

Those who know me well, know that one of my favorite places to go in Magic Kingdom is The Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, more lovingly known as the Skipper Canteen.

For those who are not aware of the back story of this location it is as follows:

legend has it, that it is operated by Alberta Falls, the granddaughter of the fictitious Dr. Albert Falls. Alberta has repurposed the company's tropical headquarters into a restaurant to generate additional revenue from the hungry cruise passengers.

Here is a link to follow for some great information about the restaurant from the Touring Plans website.

My latest visit was for a later dinner.  I was actually seated in the same room I was back in November and also had the same server! She was great both times!! I even got to sit at the exact same table both times!  Talk about reliving your past!  Deja vu anyone?

A nice glass of Rose' to start out my meal!

This is the Graham Beck Brut Rose, South Africa.

I love this room because of the stained glass parrot chandeliers!

I tried something I had not tried there before.  I went with a basic fried chicken called "Tastes Like Chicken Because it is" and it was delicious! The chicken was served on a bed of seasoned rice and a side of stir-fried vegetables.

They were kind enough to give me a little chocolate mini-cake for my birthday!

Once again, another enjoyable experience at Skipper Canteen!

Join me next week as we talk about my actual birthday day at Hollywood Studios for drinks at Oga's Cantina, lunch at ABC Commissary, and then dinner at Disney Springs!  See ya Real Soon!

THROWBACK THURSDAY!

Another peek at August of 2015 and the hotter than Hades trip to Walt Disney World!  This time we got to be in the cool Grand Floridian Resort having a wonderful character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare!
