In partnership with Radio Disney Chicago, the parade featured one of the world’s most famous character duos as Honorary Parade Grand Marshals, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and a number of nationally, well-known children’s characters usually seen on television.
Before the parade got to our location, which was a little more than half way down the parade route, three stunt planes with smoke trails were flying overhead. That was really awesome, and very fun to watch.
The start of the parade was typical, and I think I lost part of my hearing from all the sirens of police cars, ambulances and firetrucks. There were several things that came by before Mickey and Minnie. When they did arrive, they were riding in an older model red Chevrolet.
We love Tow-Mater, and I think Paul was even more thrilled to see him than Mickey and Minnie!
There was another float in the parade that had some of the other TV characters I spoke of earlier,
Bob the Builder, Barney, and some mouse in a pink dress (that I have no idea who she is.)
So, there you have it! My Disney thrill for the 4th of July. I got a little touch of Disney magic only a few miles from home. This will have to hold me for just a little while!
I wish you all a Happy and safe 4th of July!
How awesome you got a little Disney magic close to home!
