Day 7 of our WDW/Cruise Adventure-Nassau Day!

Day 7 of our WDW/Cruise Adventure-Nassau Day!

There is really nothing to describe the peaceful feeling of waking up on a cruise ship.  We both had a great nights sleep, and woke up refreshed.  We got room service for breakfast, since we were really in no hurry to do any rushing.  This cruise was meant for relaxing.

After breakfast, we got dressed and ready and made out way to the Walt Disney Theater for the meeting point for our shore excursion.  We were taking the Glass Bottom Boat Tour.  Really inexpensive, and not too much time was taken up with it either.  We are not really excursion people, so this was right up our alley.

Nassau, the capital of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, is a city on New Providence Island. Experience Old World colonial charm in an agreeable climate with natural beauty, world-class shopping and island recreation. In the 17th century, pirates-including the infamous Blackbeard-dominated the territory. Today you'll find much of Nassau's past preserved in Old Town, with its colorful structures in Caribbean style. Breathtaking beaches teem with sunbathing, swimming and water-sport enthusiasts.

  • Bay Street & Straw Market
Nassau's main thoroughfare for prime shopping. Among historic buildings, shops, bars and restaurants is the Straw Market, home to an amazing array of handmade mats, hats and baskets; along with jewelry, woodcarvings and guava jellies.  We did go into the straw market, and a few shops including the one with all these pirate statues outside and inside.

I bought a straw purse with Eeyore on it......very cute but these women in the market are all over you to buy from them, and I can't stand being hounded.  We bought the purse after the lady finally came down to what I was willing to pay.
We walked down Bay street and found the Tortuga Rum Cake store, didn't buy anything, but just wanted to see the place.  We also went into a shop called "Shark-eez Bahamas", this is the place with all the pirate statues outside the doors, and all over inside.

We headed back to the ship to relax We had another show to see, and our special dinner at Palo ahead of us!

This night's show, was Villains Tonight.  It was ok, but nothing like The Golden Mickey's the night before.  We were not able to stay for the entire show, as our dinner reservations were for 7pm.

Our dinner was something very special.  As this entire trip was to celebrate Paul's victory over cancer, the staff at Palo went above and beyond.  Our head server congratulated Paul, and said he was very happy for him that his health is good.  Our server Marco (we will never forget him!), was even more attentive to our needs, but also left us alone when he knew we wanted privacy.

Our desserts were the ever famous Chocolate Souffle.....OH!  YUMMY!!!

After we had the dessert, Marco brought us this beautiful plate that was written all in chocolate, Congratulations.

After our dinner was over, we took a walk and I wanted to use the restroom.  Wow.....what a beautiful bathroom!  I was all by myself in there, so of course I had to take a picture of these beautiful sinks!

We then headed to the Skyline Lounge.  Marco told us that his wife was a bar tender there.  He said to "tell her Marco sent you!"  So, we did.  She was a lovely girl, and made great drinks!

  1. That glass bottom boat tour looks like something I'd love to do! Good for you bargaining for your straw Eeyore purse. :) It sounds like a great day. I love that they remembered your celebration with that plate. OH and yes, the bathroom is amazing. Top it off with an elephant towel in your room, and great day all around. :)
