Caring For Giants Tour At Disney's Animal Kingdom

On our Animal Kingdom day we had a tour booked for the first thing we did.  This was the Caring for Giants Tour.  We were both really looking forward to this.

We had done the extensive Wild Africa Trek in 2012, and enjoyed that a great deal.  Many of you have seen me talk about this on here and my WDW Maniacs Facebook page as well.  It's really a subject that I never get tired of talking about and love to pass on information on to people who are thinking about booking that tour.

Caring for Giants is 100% dedicated to the Elephants who are at the park.  It's a wonderful and informative tour that we really enjoyed.  It's only an hour, and very reasonable in price.

Our guides were great, and very patient with questions, no matter how silly some of them sounded.  There were several children in our group, and as I observed them, their attention was focused the entire time.  None seemed to get antsy as some kinds can.

Mitsukoshi Department Store "Pick Your Oyster"

In the Japan pavilion at Epcot, there is a store called Mitsukoshi Department Store.  Inside this store there are awesome things to see and buy including food and chopsticks!  (We will cover that in another post.)  
Today we are going to talk about the area where you can pick a living oyster out of the tank, and they open it up for you and you get to take home the pearl they find inside.  

                   The one I picked is the upside down one in the front!

This is of course for a fee, and I believe it was $15.00 at the time we were there.  I watched a video earlier from 2013, and it was $12.00, so it has not increased too much.  

It was a very fun thing to do, and I love pearls!!

I also bought a sterling silver holder for my pearl.  I have several chains so I didn't need that.  The casing was about $30.00, and I had a gift card, so it was free for me!!  My Pearl measured 7mm, so I was happy!  Maybe on my next trip I will try again, and find something a little bigger! 

The holder reminds me of a hot air balloon, and sort of reminds me of the "Characters in Flight" balloon at Disney Springs.........even though it's not called "Characters in Flight" anymore.

FOODIE FRIDAY! Our Lunch at Restaurantosaurus!

I have always loved this quick service location for its atmosphere.  The little nuances here and there make the place what it is..   I also love the food!  Sure.........it's a basic grilled chicken sandwich (actually a Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwich), but they always taste so good!  Sure, maybe I combine the location and the food in my mind as one, and I have never had a bad experience here.  

Paul had the Safari Amber beer, and I had the Wildberry Lemonade which was very good!

We used the My Disney Experience App and ordered our food in advance for this location and it worked great!  (This option is the greatest invention since sliced bread!)

We both had the same food.   (We do cutesy things like that a lot....that comes from having fun together!)

Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this place, and will continue to dine here on trips to Animal Kingdom.
