THROWBACK THURSDAY! First WDW trip March 1976

This week on Throwback Thursday we take a look at some old photos from my very first trip to Walt Disney World..........1976 when it was "just" Magic Kingdom, sitting in the middle of wide open spaces.
As you can see from the photo with Space Mountain in the background, there was just about nothing else around.

Main Street USA, and the Trolley Car below were certainly not crowded at the time.

The parade during that time period was in celebration of the nation's bi-centennial.  It was called America on Parade.  It ran at Magic Kingdom from 1975 to 1976.  Larger-than-life, doll-like characters measuring nearly eight feet in height, called “People of America,” were developed specifically for the parade. Floats throughout America on Parade represented historical, cultural and scientific achievements throughout the first 200 years of our nation.

So many character look so different now, for the better of course.  However, this version of Winnie the Pooh is near and dear to me, as it was the first time I had seen him up closer and personal, so to speak.

I just loved the big
hunny" pot on his head!

Join us again next week for TBT...........you never know when we might wind up!
