Boatwright's Dining Hall
Really looking forward to our stay at Port Orleans Resort-Riverside!! And eating at this restaurant. I have heard some really great things about it. I would value any comments that you want to give here. Thanks!
Boatwright's Dining Hall is a Southern, shipyard-themed casual restaurant serving dinner at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. It's a shipbuilder's paradise parked alongside the Sassagoula River that winds through the resort.
This restored boat-construction warehouse features the large wooden hull of a fishing boat suspended from the ceiling, from which dangle rustic, rope-strung lanterns. Fantastic shipbuilding tools and artifacts adorn the high walls, while shop rags are used as napkins and tool boxes contain salt shakers. Fireplaces keep the vibe and the interior quite cozy.
This popular table-service restaurant features Southern-style cuisine as well as American dishes imbued with the South. Savory entrees such as jambalaya and blackened red snapper, and more traditional fare like prime rib, pasta with shrimp and filet mignon, grace dinner plates. Southern sides and pecan pie round out the dining experience.

A Marquee Milestone! Art of Animation Resort!
Marquee Milestone at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World Resort

Last week, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) put the finishing touches on the new resort’s marquee. Measuring in at 46 feet, six inches, the resort’s sign now holds the record as the largest freestanding marquee at Walt Disney World Resort. (Incidentally, it’s 18 inches taller than the famous “HOLLYWOOD” sign in Los Angeles, Calif.).
The photo, supplied by WDI, shows three layers of development the marquee went through in its creation – from digital design, to model, to full-scale installation.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which will feature four wings dedicated to popular films Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, will open in phases beginning May 31.

BREAKING NEWS from Magic Kingdom!!
News & Features
BREAKING NEWS: New Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Game Coming Soon to Walt Disney World Resort
02.15.12
– When the new Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game
debuts at Magic Kingdom later this month, it will be up to guests to
discover and defeat the Disney villains who are wreaking havoc behind
the scenes at the Walt Disney World Resort theme park.
In
this role-playing game, guests become apprentice sorcerers and embark
on a challenge to stop these animated villains from stealing one of the
four shattered pieces of Merlin’s powerful crystal ball. Armed with
spells in the form of special cards, guests follow magic symbols that
lead them to different villain hideouts in Adventureland, Fantasyland,
Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Main Street, U.S.A. Once there,
apprentices use magic keys to access the villain’s lair, and “spell”
cards to halt the evildoers in their tracks.Seventy different spell cards are part of this trading card game, and guests will receive five complimentary cards every day they play. Each of the cards features a different Disney character that offers a spell unique to his or her personality. Individually created by Disney artists and trading card game experts, these beautiful cards will become a new Disney collectible and trading opportunity.
According to Jonathan Ackley, Project Producer & Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering, one of the most exciting aspects of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is how guests become active players in the game, interacting with Disney characters at an entirely new level. “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom gives our guests a whole new way to become the hero of the Disney story, taking Disney innovation to a new level,” he says. “It’s a great game of discovery and excitement that plays off our wonderful theme park and incredible family of Disney animated characters.”

(5) Creative changes...
Creative changes coming to Kilimanjaro Safaris (Disney Deep Throat Strikes Again!)
High Guest Contact Areas/Partners,
Please share with Cast and Guests, as appropriate, the following Key Message Points.
· At Walt Disney World Resort, we continue to look for opportunities to tell our stories in new and different ways. As part of that effort, we will be making some creative changes to the last scene at Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park by creating an additional savannah with natural habitats for animals, including zebras.
· As Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has evolved, our Guests have told us they enjoy stories real animals offer and want more opportunities to connect with nature. The new plans are intended to do that and give Guests an additional viewing opportunity for one of their favorite animals.
· Work will begin in March and construction is scheduled to be complete in fall 2012. Kilimanjaro Safaris will remain open during the construction.
FAQs to share on a reactive basis
1. What is changing at Kilimanjaro Safaris?
At Walt Disney World Resort, we continue to look for opportunities to tell our stories in new and different ways. As part of that effort, we will be making some creative changes to the last scene at Kilimanjaro Safaris by creating an additional savannah with natural habitats for animals, including zebras.
2. Why are you doing this?
As Disney’s Animal Kingdom has evolved, our Guests have told us they enjoy stories real animals offer and want more opportunities to connect with nature. The new plans are intended to do that and give Guests an additional viewing opportunity for one of their favorite animals.
3. Where will the new savannah be?
The savannah being added, which will be home to a natural habitat for animals, including zebras, is planned to be one of the last locations Guests visit on their safari.
4. Have we ever had zebras on the safari before?
Yes. Zebras have long been part of Kilimanjaro Safaris but are often overlooked because of their location on the savannah. By expanding the amount of land we have for animals and creating a new habitat for the zebras, Guests will have more of an opportunity to see them.
5. What animals can you see on Kilimanjaro Safaris?
Every safari is different. Part of the experience of Kilimanjaro Safaris is exploring the African savannah for the chance to see animals in their natural habitats. By expanding the amount of land we have for animals, we are allowing Guests more opportunity to see their favorite animals, including zebras.
6. When is this planned?
Work will begin in March and construction is scheduled to be complete in fall 2012. Kilimanjaro Safaris will remain open during the construction.
7. What will happen to the existing scenes involving “Little Red” at the end of the safari?
The set pieces and the Audio-Animatronics elephant in the finale will be replaced with an additional savannah with watering holes and a natural habit for animals, including zebras.
8. What will happen to “Little Red?”
“Little Red” was an integral part of our conservation story at Kilimanjaro Safaris. Though conservation will remain an important piece of the story, Guests have told us they enjoy stories real animals offer and want more opportunities to connect with nature. The new plans are intended to do that and give Guests an additional viewing opportunity for one of their favorite animals. The set pieces in this scene will be replaced by a new savannah, which will be home to animals, including zebras.
9. Are you doing this because Guests complained the scene was not appropriate for young children?
No.
10. Does this mean the storyline will be changing?
Imagineers are adjusting the storyline for this experience and we will have additional details later when there’s more to share.

These results are based on thousands of votes received in the magazine’s annual “Top 100 Cruise Ships in the World” reader’s survey.
